 JOB SUMMARY: 

The purpose of this position is to lead an assigned crew of workers engaged in operating television camera equipment utilized to inspect CCWA sewer and stormwater lines.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; recons the area to determine needs in order to complete the set-up of equipment;  monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; develops plans; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; ensures crew members are doing their jobs; and assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations. 
  • Receives and reviews work orders; reads and interprets blueprints, roadway plans, and related documentation; determines and gathers equipment, tools, parts, and supplies needed to conduct work activities; ensures availability of adequate parts and materials to conduct work activities; and initiates requests for new or replacement materials as required. 
  • Checks conditions of the main line and the taps around the county; obtains footage and length of the main lines; and places marks on the streets for employees to visually see where problems are. 
  • Monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations; coordinates setup of work safety zones to maintain safety and traffic control at work sites, including flagging of traffic and setup of safety cones, barricades, and road/warning signs; monitors traffic conditions surrounding trucks/equipment to identify obstructions, pedestrians, or unsafe traffic conditions; and reports any incidents, accidents, problems, or unusual situations.  
  • Leads and participates in sewer and stormwater line inspections; sets-up computer for job in question; assesses conditions of sewer lines; schedules and conducts inspections for sewer and stormwater lines and mains; operates equipment; drives vehicles; gets transporter ready; utilizes CCTV truck, RTU ATV, and all related equipment; identifies needed repairs or rehabilitation; enters and updates inspection data into Department computer systems; makes recommendations regarding repair and improvements of sewer and stormwater lines; and assists in developing preventative maintenance program for regular inspection of large trunk lines.   
  • Troubleshoots problems and determines best possible solutions. 
  • Gathers information, downloads data; and enters data into system. 
  • Maintains assigned equipment; performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, refueling vehicles, performing minor equipment repairs, greasing equipment, sharpening blades, replacing parts, washing/cleaning equipment, etc.: monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment; and maintains related records and logs. 
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operations within designated timeframes and per established procedures; prepares, completes, and maintains work orders, inspection reports, after-hours reports, repair reports, purchasing card forms, spill and calculation reports, time sheets, etc. 
  • Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments; operates and maintains CCTV Truck and/or RTU ATV and related equipment, winch, power generator, camera, transporter, and other tools and equipment.  
  • Performs other assigned duties. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:  

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by three (3) years of related work experience in CCTV inspections; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. 

 

Required Licenses/Certifications:  

  • GA Drivers Lic 
  • PACP Coding Certification 

 

Preferred Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Wastewater Collections Systems 
  • Valid Georgia Class A CDL, with tanker endorsement. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  • This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as heavy work involving lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, then he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work. 
  • Tasks involve some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; tasks may also involve some pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature, noise extremes, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, disease, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate customers. 
  • May be required to work on-call if so assigned. 
  • Work is performed part of the time working in an environment where errors on this job can lead to significant physical or mental consequences for self or others.
